Our 2009-2010 Season

Brass Roots Trio

The Brass Roots Trio returns. Imagine hearing award winning trumpet, horn and piano players plus the addition of a brilliant operatic tenor. This program includes the Beethoven Horn Sonata played on the natural horn. Displaying incomparable virtuosity with its original blend of masterpieces, operatic selections and jazz numbers, the trio has performed across the country and around the world. Their combination of technique, finesse and charisma are rarely seen on the classical stage, and they are known for establishing a wonderful rapport with their audience.

The Kandinsky Trio
A BONUS CONCERT.

In cooperation with the West Virginia Music Teacher’s Association we present the Kandinsky Trio as a bonus concert. The trio, one of only six ever to win the prestigious Chamber Music America Residency Award have played for us twice in the past and we are thrilled to have them return.

Geoffrey Thomas

In one of our most innovative programs keyboardist and actor Geoffrey Thomas will appear in costume to narrate and perform some of the music of Joseph Haydn. Thomas, creator of the “Theater of Music”, has performed throughout Europe and the USA, has recorded more than ten CDs and has appeared in several films, including Steven Speiberg’s “Munich”.

More innovation. The final program of our twenty-eighth season will feature our first ever flute, clarinet and piano trio ETA 3. Not only are they one of the newest and most exciting chamber groups coming out of New York City, the trio’s flutist who also plays with the Chamber Orchestra of New York regularly appears in ABC’s daytime soap opera “All My Children”.
